This study analyzes the role of the Indonesia Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS) in guaranteeing Sharia insurance policies in Indonesia, based on Law No. 4 of 2023 concerning the Development and Strengthening of the Financial Sector. The research is motivated by numerous cases of unpaid insurance claims involving insurance companies in Indonesia, both conventional and Sharia, such as Bakrie Life, Kresna Life, Jiwasraya, and PT Asuransi Syariah Mubarakah. Despite the Financial Services Authority (OJK) undertaking various supervisory and law enforcement actions against these companies, there are still legal gaps in protecting policyholders. To address these issues, Law No. 4 of 2023 outlines the role and function of the LPS in guaranteeing Sharia insurance policies, including the establishment and implementation of policy guarantee programs and the liquidation of Sharia insurance companies whose licenses are revoked by the OJK. This study employs a normative juridical approach with a descriptive analytical method, analyzing secondary data from legislation, scientific literature, and interviews with practitioners in the insurance industry. The findings show that the LPS plays a vital role in providing legal certainty and protection to Sharia insurance policyholders, as well as maintaining financial system stability through supervision, liquidation resolution, and policy guarantee measures. However, the effective implementation of the LPS's role requires stronger regulations and better cooperation between supervisory authorities and insurance companies to minimize the risk of future defaults.
